Biotechnology is a dynamically developing field. However, due to the breadth and importance of biotechnologies and due to their rapid development, high demands are placed on the scientific research background, intellectual level, level of theoretical and professional readiness of workers in biotechnology operations. The master's program in Agricultural Biotechnology is a direct continuation of the bachelor's study program in Agricultural Biotechnology implemented at ZF JU. During the study, students will gain knowledge of molecular biology, genomics, genetic engineering, plant, animal and food microbiology. Further specialization is via courses of special genetics and plant and animal breeding, biotechnological methods used in plant and animal breeding. They also master biostatistical and bioinformatics methods. During the study, attention is paid to deepening language skills and students have the opportunity to complete an international stay. Graduates are prepared for an academic career, for practical work in biotechnological business, scientific work with a focus on molecular biology and biotechnology, and for PhD study for further development of research skills. The study program is taught in Czech. The foreign applicant has the opportunity to take Czech language course for the first time and thus obtain a certificate of knowledge of the Czech language, at least category B1. An intensive Czech course for foreigners is provided by the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia in Č. Budějovice, Department of Czech Studies. A similar course is also organized by Charles University in Prague, the Institute of Language and Vocational Training, the Poděbrady and Mariánské Lázně study centers. The second option is often used by so-called government scholarship holders, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
